EVOLENCE ^TM - Patient Information Sheet

EVOLENCE ^TM is derived from the most 'biocompatible' sources. This means that collagen that most closely resembles human tissue is selected and is therefore very unlikely to cause any adverse reaction or be 'rejected' by the body. The same biological source material that has been used in heart, dental and eye surgery is targeted in EVOLENCE manufacture.

EVOLENCE ^TM is a technological breakthrough in correcting lines and wrinkles. First the source material is broken down into pure collagen molecules. Then the strong, long-lasting bonds that exist in nature are recreated using a naturally occurring sugar, ribose. The result is a collagen substantial enough to fill even deep facial contours instantly but with a low viscosity making it easy to inject.

EVOLENCE ^TM has an excellent safety profile. The injections produce some mild discomfort that is easily controlled with a local anaesthetic. Meanwhile a few patients may experience mild swelling or itching for just a few days after injection. As with all medications, do talk to your clinician about your health history before proceeding with treatment.

How long do the effects of EVOLENCE ^TM last?

EVOLENCE ^TM restores the skin's tone for a period of at least 12 months. This means repeat procedures may not be needed for at least a year- unlike other treatments that tend to need repeating 2 or 3 times a year. Most importantly, the visible effect of the improved facial contour is maintained throughout the 12 month period.

How does EVOLENCE ^TM remove wrinkles, lines and folds?

EVOLENCE ^TM is injected just below the skin surface, where it replenishes lost collagen and adds support to your skin's own remaining collagen network. It restores shape and smoothes away wrinkles, lines and folds, quickly and effectively, to give your skin texture a soft even tone.

Is a pre-test necessary?

EVOLENCE ^TM is natural product and due to the GLYMATRIX ^TM technology it is able to mimic the properties of the natural collagen found in the skin. Therefore, while an allergic reaction is theoretically possible, it is extremely rare. Pre-testing is not a prerequisite to treatment with EVOLENCE ^TM. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity, particularly known allergies to collagen, should consult their doctor.

Can the treated area be exposed to sunlight or extreme cold?

During the first few days after treatment, exposure to extremes of temperature or to strong sunlight should be avoided to reduce the risk of inflammation. However, after this time you can go about your normal daily activities with no other treatment required.

Potential side effects:

• Swelling/bruising at the injection site
• Temporary uneven result when lips are treated
• Itching
• As with all substances/medication there is the possibility of an allergic reaction
• Prolonged firmness on treated site
• Greyish discoloration at implantation site
• Cold sores

Contraindications:

• Pregnancy
• Breast feeding
• Autoimmune disease
• If you have had laser treatment or chemical peeling in the last 4 to 6 weeks
• Blood coagulation disorders
